I’m a hairdresser, stylist and all-around hair enthusiast.
From creating the perfect updo for a bride on her wedding day or a young teenager on prom day to giving someone their last trim before they pass, it’s a privilege to be a part of some of the most important moments in my clients’ lives.
Most little girls love to play with hair and try their hand at plaiting, braiding and styling. I was no exception. I’ve always had a passion for hair but it wasn’t until my grandma and aunty pushed me to apply for a job in a salon that my childhood dream turned into my reality. I forgot all about that one time I wanted to be a P.E. teacher!
From the advice of a friend, I styled cornrows in my hair for the job interview and the interview was a success. To this day I still don’t know if it was the cornrows or my passion for hairdressing that landed me the job! I’d like to think it had more to do with my cool cornrows… just kidding.
But as I always say, “What’s meant for you, won’t go by you”.
For me, it’s not just about technical skills. It’s about the connection I make with my clients because hairdressing is as much about the relationship with clients as it is about the hair. I take the time to get to know my clients and understand their needs so I can create a look that’s truly tailored to them.
17 Years later, I’ve had over 5 years of experience working in a salon, and the other 12? Well, doing me as best as I can, I took to my own devices and started working as a freelance self-employed hairdresser. Because why not!?
Now I bring you Helaine Rosie Hair from my own backyard in a little hair salon full of heart. So whether you’re looking for a quick trim or a complete hair transformation, I’m here to help you feel like the best version of yourself.

What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time you’ll find me with the love of life. He’s handsome, doting, funny, playful, loves me unconditionally and enjoys spending time with me. Frankie my gorgeous black lab is the goodest boy and walking him every night after work is my therapy. I love coming home to my partner Danny too!
The best thing about coming home after a long day of work and madness, is sitting in silence in the kitchen with Danny and Frankie and enjoying a few minutes of peace.
As a local, surfing in Scotland is nothing new. It’s cold and it snows and the wind howls and you never know when you’re going to get a random snow blizzard – nonetheless, you’ll find me surfing some sick beachies in the north of Scotland in my spare time. My parents knew I was always a bit mental but this hobby solidifies it.
What are your three favourite things as a hairdresser?
Weddings!
I absolutely love the buzz of a wedding. The stress and the madness, the calm for the photos, then the stress and the madness all over again… at which point, my job is done and I get to leave knowing that I’ve helped a bride to feel beautiful walking down the aisle.
Meeting new people
For those that know me, you know I love a good chat. Meeting new people is great, but having the opportunity to give them a new doo that makes them feel confident and great in their own skin, that’s something special. Watching that transformation makes my heart happy.
Inspirational Clients
Just spending time and talking with clients fills me with so much energy. Some of the stories I hear are so inspiring and give me a truck load of motivation in my life.
What’s your best experience as a hairdresser?
The ultimate experience in hairdressing for me personally is meeting Sam McKnight and participating in the Mastered Courses in London. Sam is my all-time inspiration – he’s done hair for Princess Diana, wigs for Lady Gaga and hairdressing for some of the world’s top models like Kate Moss. The products he’s created are some of the best in the hair industry, and I could honestly go on about this legend for hours. Check him out – he is one of the most inspirational and hard-working men on this earth. OH, he has an epic garden that inspired his haircare range too. I love a nice garden.
